                                ORDINANCE NO. 9575
        
        
                   AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHATTANOOGA CITY CODE,
                   PART II, SECTION 14-2,  AND DELETE SECTION 14-3
                   IN ORDER TO ADOPT THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE
                   OF 1990 AS THE OFFICIAL ELECTRICAL CODE OF THE
                   CITY OF CHATTANOOGA.

              	   SECTION 1.  BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
         CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That Chattanooga City Code, 
Part
         II, Section 14-2 be and hereby is amended by deleting the
         present Section 14-2 in its entirety and substituting in lieu
         thereof the following:
                   Section 14-2  Code Adopted.
                  
                   The National Electrical Code of 1990 is hereby
                   adopted as the official electrical code of the
                   City.  Such Code is adopted by reference
                   pursuant to the provisions of T.C.A. A7A7
                   6-54-501 thru 6-54-506.  All tables and
                   examples included in the National Electrical
                   Code of 1990 are adopted by the City of
                   Chattanooga.  The provisions of such National
                   Electrical Code shall be in full force and
                   effect to the same extent as if such
                   provisions were copied verbatim herein.  One
                   (1) original of the National Electrical Code
                   is now on file and has been on file in the
                   office of the City Auditor for more than
                   fifteen (15) days, subject to public
                   inspection.
                  
              	   SECTION 2.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL 

         OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That Chattanooga City
         Code, Part II, Section 14-3 be and hereby is amended by 
deleting
         the present Section 14-3 in its entirety.
              	   SECTION 3.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED That this Ordinance 

         shall become effective within two (2) weeks from the date of
         passage in accordance with Tennessee law.
